Beautiful AC Hotel Opens on the San Francisco Bay

October 6, 2017 | Development

Our beautiful AC Hotel on the San Francisco Bay is now open. Conveniently located just 10 miles from downtown San Francisco and 10 minutes from San Francisco International Airport, it is the perfect addition to South San Francisco’s growing biotech hub, and is ideal for entrepreneurial and innovative travelers seeking a sophisticated, European-inspired experience.

“We are delighted to bring this design-driven hotel to the Cove at Oyster Point,” says Corry Oakes, President/CEO of OTO Development, a Johnson Management company. “Everything – from location to architecture to amenities, even the signature cocktail in the lounge – embodies the AC brand’s emphasis on ‘A New Way to Hotel.’”

The 187-room property – developed and operated by Spartanburg SC-based OTO – is the first new hotel to open in South San Francisco in 15 years.

Overlooking the serene San Francisco Bay, this was designed to showcase stunning water views and celebrate natural light. Built around an al fresco courtyard, the property exudes a sense of calm with neutral tones and sleek lines. In the center of the courtyard is the one-of-a-kind “Argento Shadow Sphere” – a work of art that transforms with the sunlight – created by contemporary sculptor and designer Michael Enn Sirvet.

The spacious lobby features a ceramic oyster shell art installation dramatically suspended from the lobby ceiling, which was commissioned from accomplished sculptor Kevin Chambers to pay homage to the area’s rich history of oyster farming and ship building. Light and airy guestrooms and suites are outfitted with crisp white linens, open closet systems, hardwood floors, and furniture elevated from the ground to give a sense of space.

The beverage and food program provides flexible options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even just a quick snack. The AC Kitchen serves both a “Grab-n-Go” and buffet breakfast with flaky croissants, savory egg tarts, and freshly sliced Iberico prosciutto.

The sleek yet comfortable AC Lounge offers travelers a relaxing space to connect or conduct business meetings by day and a hub of social buzz by night. An extensive beverage program highlights local craft beers, specialty wines by the bottle and on tap, and expertly made drinks including the hotel’s signature “Karl the Fog” cocktail. Guests can indulge in tapas-style bites and snacks such as charcuterie and cheeses, as well as a Spanish-inspired menu for lunch and dinner. Weekly “lounge activations,” in collaboration with Bay Area artists, musicians and culinary experts, provide an authentic and local cultural experience.

“AC Hotels’ high-style, carefully edited experience is well-suited to the discerning, modern business traveler, making this entrepreneurial hub in San Francisco a perfect fit for the brand,” says Benoit Racle, Senior Global Brand Director, AC Hotels by Marriott. “Whether you’re looking to catch up on work, book some meetings or simply relax with one of the signature Gin & Tonics at the end of the day, this AC Hotel will undoubtedly become a mainstay on the map for local and visiting business travelers alike in South San Francisco.”

Hotel amenities include a 24-hour fitness center with an indoor heated pool, a library featuring an array of inspiring titles, complimentary airport shuttle, complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, and hydration stations on each floor. The AC Store, open 24 hours, offers a selection of locally sourced beverages and snacks for purchase including Blue Bottle Coffee, IT'S-IT Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Dandelion chocolates.

AC Hotel San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront features five meeting rooms, totaling more than 8,000 square feet of flexible space with the latest high-tech equipment; on-site catering is available as well. For those in need of a spot for a quick meeting, the hotel offers a media salon that is rentable by the hour. Wireless on-demand service buttons are provided in the public and meeting spaces, enabling guests to immediately request a staff member’s attention.

The hotel is on the Oyster Point biomedical campus, and is close to Amgen, GenenTech, Roche, ThermoFisher, Verily, SAP, AstraZeneca, and Walmart.com.  It is conveniently located just one mile from a Caltrain stop and BART station, so guests can easily reach San Francisco, AT&T Park, Pier 39, and The Embarcadero. The hotel is nestled on a calm inlet along a four-mile stretch of the San Francisco Bay Trail that is perfect for running, biking, and fishing.
