Hyatt Centric Mountain View Achieves LEED Silver Certification

The United States Green Building Council announced that Hyatt Centric Mountain View has achieved LEED Silver Certification, recognizing the environmentally responsible efforts incorporated into the construction and continuing operation of the hotel.

Started in the early 1990s, LEED certification stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a widely recognized rating system for green buildings. OTO Development worked with Paladino and Company to track and implement the appropriate steps during construction to achieve the LEED certification.

In addition to some foundational elements like implementing energy-efficient systems and sustainable construction procedures, some key features that helped achieve the LEED Silver status include:

  • Alternative transportation availability and use, such as bicycle-friendly amenities, public transportation access, and pedestrian-friendly location.
  • Advanced lighting controls using photometric analysis that reacts to both daytime and seasonal sunlight to adjust energy usage.
  • Utilizing current, state-of-the-art refrigerant technology to develop a system that maximizes guest comfort while capturing energy savings.
  • Extensive and Intensive green roof elements to manage storm water runoff and minimize the heat island effect.
